Campbell University student dies after on-campus fall, school says

BUIES CREEK, N.C. (WNCN) - A Campbell University student has died after an on-campus fall, the school confirmed.

The university sent a tweet Thursday night mentioning the death. The tweet was attributed to the Harnett County Sheriff's Office.

Campbell University's president, J. Bradley Creed, sent a statement Friday morning and identified the student as Ezra Goldbach. He was a first-year student in the Campbell Business School's PGA Golf Management program and from Pinnacle in Stokes County.

Creed said, in part:

The news of a sudden and tragic death in a close knit community is difficult for all of us to bear, especially for those closest to the one who dies. It is important to acknowledge grief and express feelings of sadness. Counselors and others on our campus are available to assist and support the Campbell community during this trying time. In the next few days we will come together in Butler Chapel to remember Ezra and his life. Details will be available soon."

The Harnett County Sheriff's Office and the school's Office of Student Life are both investigating, the school said.
