DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) - Durham police said on Thursday, March 22, a 17-year-old was killed when he and another suspect were attempting to rob someone on Saturday, March 3.

Jyireh Lamour Holeman, 17, and Taijay Devon Surles, 18, both of Durham, attempted to rob a man at an apartment complex in the 2800 block of Courtney Creek Boulevard just before 10 p.m., police said.

Surles was also charged with two counts of felony probation violation, two counts of breaking and entering, one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and two drug charges.
