The man first came in the store, grabbed a drink and took it to the checkout counter, police said.

The man then told the clerk he "needed money," the news release said.

"When the clerk did not immediately respond, the man pulled up his hoodie to show the clerk a gun in his waistband," police said.

The man then fled with the cash.
