Police: Suspect turns self in after shooting Benson man in buttocks in 'family dispute'

BENSON, N.C. (WNCN) - Benson police said the suspect wanted in connection with shooting another man in the buttocks during a family dispute on May 5 has turned himself in.

A warrant was obtained for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and taken out for Eric Anthony Frasier, 29, of Benson, in connection with the shooting.

Frasier is being held in Johnston County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond. His first court appearance is slated for Thursday.

The incident was reported around 1:55 p.m. in the 1300 block of Chicopee Road in the Gaines Mobile Home Park, according to police.

Earl Chisholm was shot in the buttocks during a "family dispute" that escalated, police said.

Chisholm was taken to WakeMed for treatment of his injuries.

An investigation into the shooting resulted in the warrant being obtained for Frasier. Police said they spoke with Frasier's family who said that the suspect was aware of the warrant and planned to turn himself in on the night of May 8.

Frasier did not turn himself in and now Benson police are searching for him.

The suspect is described as standing approximately 6-foot-1 and weighs 150 pounds. He should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.
