Pedestrian killed after being hit by tractor-trailer on I-95 in Lumberton

LUMBERTON, N.C. (WBTW) - A pedestrian was hit and killed by an 18-wheeler as he was walking along Interstate 95 in Lumberton, Saturday evening.

According to Lt. Vernon Johnson with the Lumberton Police Department, officers were called to I-95 near exit 20 around 6:20 p.m.  


When officers arrived they found a man who was hit by a tractor-trailer in the northbound lane of I-95 exit 20 off-ramp.

The investigation is ongoing and officers are working to identify the man who died.

The road reopened and traffic returned to normal around 9 p.m.
