Man charged with murder following death investigation near NC State

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) - Raleigh police have charged a man with murder following a death investigation after a body was found on Tuesday evening in an area near North Carolina State University.

The call was reported around 6:35 p.m. in the 1500 block of Varsity Drive, according to a news release from Raleigh police.

Police said the call was initially reported as a cardiac arrest, but is now considered a homicide.

On Wednesday morning, police identified the victim as 54-year-old David Glenn Adams and announced that Bruce Antwan Matthews, 49, is facing a murder charge in connection with Adams' death.

Matthews appeared in court Wednesday morning where he was appointed a capital defender. 

Matthews' next court appearance on the murder charge is slated for May 30.
