Power restored, road reopened after Knightdale fire hydrant capped

KNIGHTDALE, N.C. (WNCN) - A broken fire hydrant in Knightdale caused traffic problems and a power outage on Monday afternoon, officials said.

The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. in westbound lanes of Knightdale Boulevard between Smithfield Road and Interstate 540, Knightdale officials said.

A photo from the city showed water spraying dozens of feet into the air near the Parkstone development.

Duke Energy said power was out to 1,220 customers.

The water was cut off around 4 p.m., but repairs starting at 7 a.m. Tuesday will close one westbound lane, officials said.
