Woman dies in wreck after blowing tire, getting ejected on US 64 in Nash County

NASHVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) - A woman died when her tire blew, causing her to wreck on U.S. 64 in Nash County, authorities said.

Patricia King, of Castalia, was on her way to work when the accident happened, officials said. It was around 5 p.m. when her tire blew out, she hit the guardrail, went airborne, and ended up in the median between two guardrails.

King wasn't wearing her seatbelt and was ejected. She would have turned 40 later on in May.

The wreck impacted traffic for hours, troopers said. U.S. 64 was back open just after 7 p.m.
