Police ID woman found dead outside Fayetteville home

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) - A woman was found dead outside of her Fayetteville home Friday morning, according to Fayetteville police.

Officers responded to a home in the 4700 block of Republican Road around 7:30 a.m. in reference to a death investigation. Police said that the investigation so far has revealed that a neighbor found the woman outside her home.

On Monday afternoon, authorities identified the woman as Theresa Schrump, 59.

Schrump was pronounced dead at the scene and her body will be sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy to determine the cause of death, police said.

Neighbor David Howard found the woman's body outside his home.

"I looked over here, her body was laying head that direction, she was face down," he said.

Howard said Schrump lived with her boyfriend in the apartment above him.

"I heard them fightin, throwin pots and stuff, you know, a couple having a spat," Howard said.

Police aren't sure if the victim fell from the balcony or was pushed.

"This is my second go round, found the neighbor that live right across from me, dead behind his house, and now I'm finding another dead body and it's getting to be a little stressful," Howard said.

Fayetteville Police Department homicide detectives are investigating the death.
