24-year-old man found fatally shot in Raleigh hotel stairwell

UPDATE: 2 arrested in Raleigh hotel slaying

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) - Police are investigating the death of a man who was found shot at a hotel on Capital Boulevard in Raleigh.

Police found the man, identified as 24-year-old Raleigh resident Xavian Jeremiah Graves, with apparent gunshot wounds in a stairwell of the City Studios Inn and Suites when they responded to a report of a man down at about 8 p.m., according to Raleigh police. He was taken to WakeMed, where he was declared dead, police said.

Police are investigating the case as a homicide.

Police said the crime was not random. A 911 caller described finding the victim bleeding in the stairwell. He said two men ran out of the stairwell as he started up, but did not get a good look at them.

The hotel is still open despite the shooting and investigation.
