$2 million bond for NC man facing dozens of child sex crime charges

KURE BEACH, N.C. (WECT) - A Rocky Point man is facing numerous child sex crime charges following a joint investigation by the Kure Beach Police Department and the Pender County Sheriff's Office.

Jason Lee Ramsey, 39, was charged by Kure Beach police with statutory rape and indecent liberties with a child. He was given a $100,000 bond for the charges.


Following the report by the alleged victim, the Pender County Sheriff's Office conducted a joint investigation with Kure Beach police and eventually charged Ramsey with:

  • First-degree sexual exploitation of a minor (2 counts)
  • Statutory sex offense (4 counts)
  • Indecent liberties with a child (36 counts)

Ramsey is currently in the Pender County Jail under a $2 million bond. 

Authorities declined to release any additional details due to the ongoing investigation.

Ramsey's first court appearance for the New Hanover County charges will be Monday and his first appearance for the Pender County charges will be Tuesday.
