Deputies: NC woman charged after crystal meth found in room with 3-month-old

THOMASVILLE, NC (WFMY) - A woman was charged after crystal meth was found in a room with a 3-month-old child at her home Sunday, according to Davidson County deputies.

Deputies with the sheriff's office responded to a reported overdose on the 200 block of Hasty School Road in Thomasville and found a man being treated by EMS. While authorities searched the home, a small amount of crystal meth was found in the room near the child. The child was not hurt and appeared healthy.


Deputies say the home's air conditioner wasn't working and window units were being used in the kitchen/living room and master bedroom, but there wasn't one in the child's room. A small fan was attached to the crib.

Child Protective Services was notified and arranged for the child to stay with a grandparent.

A small amount of marijuana was also found. The man treated was taken to the hospital.

Julie Stewart was arrested for Possession Schedule II, Possession Schedule VI, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia, and Misdemeanor Child Abuse Without Inflicting Injuries. Stewart, 37, received a $10,000 secured bond and has a July 16 court date.
