Man in ICU after he's injured during NC break-in, police say

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - A man severely injured himself while breaking into a house on Princess Street early Friday morning, according to the Wilmington Police Department.

Officials say that William Tyler Tuttle, 29, was taken to New Hanover Medical Center and placed in the Intensive Care Unit after injuring himself on a glass window.

Tuttle, who was under the influence of impairing substances, left his vehicle running in the middle of 15th and Market streets at approximately 3 a.m. Friday, police said.

According to the WPD, he then broke into homes in the 1800 block of Princess Street and Chestnut Street and attempted to break into Saint John's Church at the intersection of 16th and Market streets.

Officials say Tuttle was trying to break into two houses in the 1500 block of Princess Street when he injured himself.

Police found Tuttle in the street and first aid was administered before he was taken to the hospital.
