SAXAPAHAW, N.C. (WNCN) - Crews were searching for a kayaker Sunday who witnesses reported vanished near a North Carolina lake, officials said.
The incident happened around 6 p.m. near the Saxapahaw Lake paddle access area, Alamance County officials said.
The area is near Sellers Manufacturing Company Lake and is part of the Haw River, south of Graham just inside Alamance County.
WFMY reported that multiple people were in a kayak before it tipped over.
A 21-year-old man went underwater and did not resurface, the TV station reported.
Alamance County Fire and EMS crews were at the scene searching for the kayaker until dark Sunday.
The search was set to resume Monday morning.
