Green Hope's Jordyn Adams drafted No. 17 by Angels

CARY, N.C. (WNCN) - Green Hope High School product Jordyn Adams was drafted 17th overall by the Los Angeles Angels in Monday's MLB Draft.

Adams, drafted as an outfielder, sported a .453 batting average in 24 games this past season, according to MaxPreps. He was also clean in the field as he committed just one error.

A multi-sport athlete, Adams is signed to play football and baseball at the University of North Carolina. The senior Falcon eclipsed the 1,000 receiving yards mark and scored a dozen touchdowns in the fall, according to MaxPreps.

Adams must now make a decision: embark on a professional baseball career, or continue playing both football and baseball for the Tar Heels starting in the fall. MLB.com said the approximate value of the No. 17 pick is $3.5 million.
