RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) - Did you know the Triangle experienced its coldest temperatures on record the same day North Carolina did?
January 21, 1985 was just a little chilly across the Tar Heel state.
On that day, temperatures in the Triangle plunged to -9 degrees.
But on Mount Mitchell? It dropped to a record-setting -34 degrees.
