Alyssa Rae joins the CBS 17 Sports Team after spending four years as the Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter at WSLS 10 in her hometown Roanoke, Virginia.
Alyssa started her broadcast career in Beckley, West Virginia where she served as Sports Director for WVNS.
Her love for sports, specifically football, started at a young age.
Born in Columbus, Ohio she was raised a Buckeye fan. She is a graduate of Virginia Tech and had the honor of covering her alma mater while in Roanoke.
During her time in Beckley, Alyssa was the West Virginia Broadcasters Association recipient for “Best Sportscast.”
In Roanoke, she joined an award-winning sports team that was named “Best Sports Operation of the Virginia’s” by the Virginias Associated Press Broadcasters for back to back years in 2017 and 2018. The WSLS team also won Virginia Association of Broadcasters “Most Outstanding Sports Coverage” in 2016.
Alyssa is thrilled to be in the heart of ACC country and to be able to cover the Hurricanes and Panthers on top of college and high school sports.
While not on the sideline or the studio, Alyssa enjoys cheering on the Hokies and Buckeyes, trying out new restaurants, running and spending time with friends and family. She also shamelessly posts pictures of her dog, Joe, on all social media platforms.
