Chloe Rafferty joined the CBS 17 News team in June 2022.
Whether out in the field or in the newsroom, Chloe is passionate about connecting with people and sharing their stories.
Prior to reporting for CBS 17, Chloe most recently worked at Live 5 News in Charleston, South Carolina.
While at Live 5 News, she worked on an Emmy award-winning newscast and covered such notable topics as the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Presidential Election and the Murdaugh murder investigations.
Chloe began her career interning with WBLI and WBAB, Long Island’s No. 1 Top 40 and Classic Rock radio stations.
She went on to pursue a reporting and producing internship at WIS News 10 in Columbia, South Carolina, which kickstarted her passion to serve as a voice for the community through in-depth reporting and storytelling.
She is also trained in using social media analytics to track data and hunt for stories that matter to the community.
Chloe is originally from Locust Valley, New York, a hamlet on the north shore of Long Island.
She graduated Magna Cum Laude with Leadership Distinction from the University of South Carolina, where she majored in broadcast journalism and minored in political science.
Throughout college, she anchored and reported for Student Gamecock Television and produced and hosted her own weekly radio show.
She served as a Teaching Assistant for Digital Media Academy, a week-long intensive program that helps students learn the principles of effective interviewing and storytelling. She is a member of the Kappa Tau Alpha Journalism and Mass Communications Honor Society.
Chloe is delighted to call Raleigh her new home.
She spends her free time exploring the city and enjoying new restaurants. She loves cheering on the UofSC Gamecocks (especially during football season!), helping others through volunteer work, and spending time with family and friends.
