Gilat Melamed

Gilat Melamed joined the CBS 17 news team as a reporter in June 2021.

After years of reporting in New York, she is excited to trade-in the snow boots for some warmer weather.

Previously, Melamed was a reporter at WKBW in Buffalo, New York covering topics like the state’s vaccine distribution, unemployment crisis, and the restaurant and tourism industries.

Melamed got her start in news interning for WNBC in New York City – working on the assignment desk and in the consumer reporting unit.

She’s a graduate of Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, where she double majored in broadcast and digital journalism, and political science.

While at Newhouse, she received local and national awards for reporting and anchoring. She spent time reporting in Israel and Ukraine.

As a Syracuse alum, she is excited to have many opportunities to see them play ACC schools on Tobacco Road.

Melamed is a Queens, New York native. She loves the outdoors and is excited to explore North Carolina’s beaches and go skiing in the mountains.
