A national eyewear retailer is giving North Carolinians something to look forward to this month.

Eyemart Express is opening a brand new store in Goldsboro at the end of April. In preparation for the grand opening, the company’s optical experts are sharing some eyewear information that can save you time and money next time you’re shopping for a new pair of glasses.

According to the Vision Council of America, about 75% of the adult population use some sort of vision correction (i.e. contacts, Lasik, etc.). For more than half of those people, glasses are a part of everyday life. So how come so many people have trouble finding a pair they’re happy with?  Experts say everything from improper diagnoses to just general laziness can contribute to the problem.

Eyemart Express wants to change that. The company’s dedicated eyecare staff is committed to helping each customer find glasses that fit their own unique needs.

Check out the three simple tips below to ensure you’re making the most informed decisions when it comes to eyeglasses.

1. Don’t Settle! Make sure your frames are right for you.

If you’ve ever worn glasses before, you probably know when something about your prescription just doesn’t feel right. Wearing the wrong prescription can often lead to headaches and a constant feeling of eyestrain. That’s why it’s important to be honest and upfront with your prescriber about how a particular lense makes you feel. If your prescriber says a bit of discomfort is normal, try keeping a log to document how you’re feeling during the first few weeks after your appointment. This will help you remember all of your symptoms and help your provider get a better idea of what’s causing the problem.

2. Know what polarized lenses are and when they’re useful

Polarized lenses can increase clarity, reduce glare, and offer better protection from the sun’s UV rays. Polarized lenses are especially useful for people who work outside or spend a lot of time in the sun. Eyemart Express gives customers the ability to turn any prescription frames into a pair of polarized sunglasses. You can also ask for extra UV coating for an additional layer of protection from the sun.

 3. Don’t be afraid to file an insurance claim

Eyemart Express accepts more than 1,000 national insurance plans to ensure you’re getting the eyecare you need at the lowest possible price. In some cases, Eyecare Express staff members can even help you file the necessary paperwork to ensure you’re maximizing your savings.

On Saturday, April 27, Eyemart Express will host a grand opening event at its new location, 402 N. Berkeley Blvd. Goldsboro, NC. The event will feature several prizes and giveaways, including a free pair of kids’ glasses for the first 25 families who show up.
