CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) — A man was arrested after an UNC student was assaulted on Wednesday evening, according to police.

Officials said the student reported the assault around 8:55 p.m. Wednesday night. The student said they were assaulted by a man near Craige Residence Hall on Skipper Bowls Drive.

The student told police the suspect tried to pull them into the wooded area behind the residence hall and then tried to push the student down against her will.

The student said they fought off the suspect and contacted UNC Police.

Jordan Dean Steele, 18, was arrested and charged with felony kidnapping and assault on Thursday. He received a $25,000 secured bond.
