LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WNCN) – Scott Satterfield is expected to become the next Louisville football coach, according to a report from the Courier Journal.

Satterfield’s Appalachian State team is coming off its third-straight Sun Belt championship and first outright title. The Mountaineers beat Louisiana, 27-17, on Saturday.

Satterfield is in his sixth season in Boone. After going 4-8 in his first season, Satterfield led App State’s successful transition from FCS to FBS. In addition to the three Sun Belt titles, Satterfield and the Mountaineers have enjoyed five-straight winning seasons and will be playing in their fourth bowl game in a row.

App State, despite going 7-5 in 2014, wasn’t bowl eligible because of its transition to the FBS level.

The Mountaineers play Middle Tennessee in the New Orleans Bowl on Dec. 15. It will be a chance to reach the 11-win mark for the second time since jumping up to FBS competition.
