Shaw hoping to take a step after 2 tough seasons

NCAA Football

Shaw University hopes this season will be more fruitful than recent ones. The Bears have mustered just five wins in the past two years combined, but coach Adrian Jones believes his players have put in the work for this to be a successful campaign.

Jones estimated that about 50 Bears remained in the Triangle to work out together over the summer. He believes that helped them as athletes, and as teammates.

“Just creating that bond that you need on a football team. Most of the championships that I won were all about that bond in the summertime, and that’s what we’ve done,” he said. “The first two years, we may have had 13 or 14 guys here for the summer, but 50 or 55 guys at a small college like Shaw University is unheard of.”
