2 juveniles charged in fatal Gatlinburg wildfires

GATLINBURG, N.C. (WNCN) – A pair of juveniles have been arrested on charges of aggravated arson in connection with the fatal fires that swept through Gatlinburg, Tennessee late last month.

Officials are refusing to release the ages of the two people, but said that the possibility of transferring the case to adult court. Additional charges are also being considered. Officials have put the fires’ death toll at 14.

“Everything is on the table,” said Jimmy Dunn, District Attorney General for the Fourth Judicial District of Tennessee.

The two, who were arrested by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, are residents of Tennessee, he said, but not from Sevier County, where Gatlinburg is located.
