RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Two teens have been charged with murder in the shooting death of a 31-year-old man at a shopping center, Raleigh police said.
Rahim Cummings was shot in a shopping center parking lot in the 4600 block of Capital Boulevard around 5 p.m. Friday. He was transported to the hospital where he was then pronounced dead.
Javorie Ammon Thompson, 18, of Durham, and Zyreek Avery Braxton, 17, of Nashville, have been charged with murder in the shooting.
A witness said the shooting occurred during a chase that turned into a physical altercation.
A few shots were fired with at least one hitting Cummings and another breaking a window of a vehicle, the witness said.RELATED: Man shot to death on Capital Boulevard in Raleigh Friday night
The shooting occurred in the same shopping center where a pawn shop clerk was shot to death in September 2015.
Thompson and Braxton are both being held in the Wake County Detention Center.
Thompson is being held on no bond. His first court date is scheduled for Aug. 15.
No bond information is currently available for Braxton.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help Cummings’ family with funeral arrangements. According to the GoFundMe page, Cummings is survived by his wife and two sons.
