3 hurt when motorcycle and car involved in horrendous crash in Raleigh


RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Three people were injured in Raleigh Saturday morning after a horrific crash occurred just before dawn.

The crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. Saturday on Wake Forest Road near Ronald Drive and involved two vehicles. The two vehicles involved were a 2006 Toyota Prius and a 2016 Polaris Slingshot, a three-wheel motorcycle, police said.

Kevin Jamal Mickens, 39, was operating the Slingshot and was traveling south on Wake Forest Road towards New Hope Church Road along with his passenger, Tyieyana Destiny Kennedy, 20. Isham Hudson, 87, was operating the Prius and driving north on the road.

According to police, Mickens attempted to make a left turn and entered Hudson’s lane of travel. The two vehicles then collided.

Mickens, Kennedy and Hudson were all transported to WakeMed with injuries. Mickens sustained the most serious injuries of the three, police said.

Wake Forest Road between Ronald Drive and Forest Ridge Road was shut down in both directions for approximately three hours.

No charges have been filed and the crash is under investigation.Save
