TABOR CITY, N.C. (WECT) — A third person was arrested Monday in connection with the beating death of a Tabor City man on September 2.
According to officials, Prendaysheya Reaves, 19, was charged by the State Bureau of Investigation with first-degree murder and common law robbery in the death of Albert “Phillip” Grainger, 41.
Grainger was found at around 1 a.m. on Bell Street, just 200 yards away from his home by his wife, Deborah Grainger. She said he was bleeding profusely from his head and was unresponsive.
Authorities initially arrested two suspects, Devonate McCrea, 20, and Samari Vereen, 23, also on charges of first-degree murder and common law robbery in connection to the incident.
McCrea and Vereen made their first court appearance Monday.
Deborah Grainger said the autopsy shows her husband was severely beaten in the head and chest.
The Graingers have several children together and grandchildren
