4th suspect nabbed in NC home invasion that killed a dad and an intruder

BLADEN COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) — The last suspect wanted in connection to a deadly home invasion in Bladen County two weeks ago is now in custody

According to officials, Africa Zachariah Shipman, 35, was arrested by US Marshals at a relative’s home in Las Vegas Monday afternoon.

Shipman, along with Tamara Rashonia McKoy, 30, Erin Victoria Pridgen, 29, and Elijah Bruce Brown III, 37, are accused of killing Donwia Wayne Griffith during a home invasion in the Buckhead community on Oct. 15.

Deputies also found two women and three minors hiding in the residence. They were not injured in the home invasion.

A fifth suspect, Gregory Skinner, 38, was injured during the incident and dropped off at the emergency room entrance at Columbus County Regional Hospital in Whiteville. Skinner eventually died from his injuries.

Bladen County officials said the suspects all conspired to rob Griffith at his home. During the armed robbery, several shots were fired and both Skinner and Griffith were struck.

Griffith died at the scene, officials said. Griffith leaves behind a daughter, according to his obituary.
