Army private surprises little sister at school before going to training

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A local Army private made a surprise visit to Stonewall Jackson Middle School on Friday to see her little sister before heading out for training.

Private Kaitlyn Shulman thought the best thing to do, with the little time she had before going to Advanced Individual Training, would be to stop by her sister’s school and spend time with her.

She surprised her sister, Kristina Meadows, who was on the soccer fields with her friends.

When asked how she feels about her sister’s visit, a shy Meadows explained, “I was really happy.”

Shulman reiterated her sister’s sentiment when asked the same question. “Happy, it’s been a while since I’ve seen her,” she says.
When asked why she decided to stop by and surprise her sister, Private Shulman explanation was simple.

“Because I didn’t get to see her, and I wanted her to come but my mom told me she couldn’t make it, I was like alright, well we are going to surprise her,” Shulman said.

Private Shulman, who just finished her boot camp, will head out for individual training later this evening.
