Boys missing from Maine found in North Carolina; father arrested

News

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Two boys missing for weeks from Maine have been found in North Carolina and their father has been arrested, police confirmed to CBS 17.

Joel Strother II, 12, and Carter Strother III, 10, were taken out Maine against their will, the Presque Isle Police Department said in a news release.

Police said Monday they had been in contact with the father, Joel Strother, who had been refusing to cooperate with them.

Presque Isle police would not say where in North Carolina the boys were located on Tuesday.

The boys had not been seen for weeks after police said their father took them out of state in violation of a custody agreement.

CBS 17 will update this story as it develops.
