Car fire shuts down lanes on I-40 in Wake County

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Lanes of I-40 were closed in Wake County on Saturday night after a car caught fire.

The incident started just after 10 p.m. when a vehicle was spotted in the eastbound median area, NC DOT officials said.

The fire shut down two left eastbound lanes at mile marker 284, which is near the Morrisville exit Airport Blvd.

Officials said the scene would not likely be cleared before midnight.
