COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. (WNCN) — Deputies in one Florida county were “puzzled” after a speed enforcement operation in a community there only turned up one speeder, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook.
Deputies set up an enforcement operation in the Golden Gate Estates community last week at the request of the residents there. But they weren’t catching anyone speeding.
“After a significant amount of time had passed they were puzzled. Traffic was steady, so why had they identified just one driver who was traveling over the speed limit?” the sheriff’s office wrote.
Then they figured it out as they were leaving the area.
About a quarter-mile ahead of their enforcement site they saw a sign that said “POLICE AHEAD.”
“Well played, Anonymous Sign Artist. Well played,” the sheriff’s office wrote.
