WAKE FORST, N.C. (WNCN) — Nine-year-old McKenzie Mueller is a Wake Forest native who earned a spot in this year in this year’s Drive, Chip, & Putt competition at Augusta National, the site of The Masters.

The event took place on Sunday, and McKenzie finished eighth in her age-group.

Before making the trip down to Georgia, she told CBS 17 which family member got her interested in golf, when she was just 4-years-old.

“My brother Luke started hitting golf balls and playing golf and I was watching him” says McKenzie, “and I was like ‘oh, that seems so fun!’ and I picked up a golf club and I hit it, and then I just started to love the game of golf.”
