(WFLA/CNN) – A utility worker went flying after a truck hit the bucket he was in as he repaired a traffic signal on a busy Houston highway–and it was all caught on camera.
The worker managed to walk away from the crash, KTRK-TV reported.
Andrew Wolf, a professional photographer, had his dash cam rolling as he drove down the highway on Feb. 25. Traffic was moving along at about 50 miles per hour. As Wolf drove under a traffic light, the truck to his left hit a worker who was in a bucket working on a traffic signal.
The worker was knocked out of the bucket and dangled “upside down and sideways” in his safety harness until he was lowered to the ground. Wolf said a bus nearly missed the worker while he was there.
The driver of the truck stopped and Wolf called 911.
“You can see they ignored some safety rules. They didn’t have the road blocked off. The truck wasn’t protecting anybody. But they were smart enough to put on a belt and a helmet, and that’s definitely what saved his life,” Wolf said.
The worker was left in shock, but was okay, Wolf said.
“He used up all of his luck that day, but it was just amazing that he literally walked away from that impact,” Wolf said.
