TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – An unidentified man attempted to flee a traffic stop early Monday, but failed when he was injured as he jumped 70 feet from an Interstate-4 overpass.

The incident occurred just after 2 a.m. near the East Columbus Drive and North 50th Street exit. The man suffered non-life-threatening injuries including a broken femur and wrist. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

According to a Tampa Police Department report, officers initially pulled the man over for speeding. After talking to him, a DUI investigator was called to the scene to evaluate the driver for impairment.
