DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – UNC and Duke students are ready to square off for an intense rivalry at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Wednesday night.

It’s the day that many basketball fans have waited for all season long.

“Well, I’m very excited. I think we’ve got a great team and I think we’re definitely able to stop Zion. Coby White needs to have a great game. And Nassir Little equally as talented freshman himself. So I think we have a great chance,” said UNC student Mark Heymann.

“I don’t think anyone can stop Zion in the form that he is in and just the overall athlete that he is,” said Duke student Brandon D’Souza.

As the two teams go head-to-head, close eyes are on 6 foot 7 Duke powerhouse Zion Williamson.

The skilled forward is hard to stop. But the Tar Heels say their team is ready to take him down.

“They have been working really hard this semester. But I think if they just keep up the good work they will probably, you know, come out with the win,” said UNC student Mia Kosarek.

Some fans are traveling thousands of miles just to see the local rivals up close and are willing to shell out thousands of dollars just for tickets.

Others camped out the night before the big game for the chance to see their school team in person.

“We have to be in our tents with check-ins and everything. And if we make all of our checks we can get tickets either for our spots or for the walk up line,” said Duke Student Anh Pham.

Some sports analysts believe former President Obama could make an appearance at tonight’s game.
