RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Wakefield High School will operate on a normal schedule Friday, but extra security will be in place after a threat was sent via social media on Thursday.

The principal, Malik Bazzell, sent a letter home to parents Thursday afternoon, which stated “a student informed the school there was an implied and vague social media threat made against the school.”

The school notified the school system’s security team and the Raleigh Police Department.

Both law enforcement agencies are investigating the incident.

Once the school has determined the source of the threat, they will take appropriate disciplinary action.

In the letter, Bazzell says he looks forward to continuing to partner with parents to ensure the safety of all Wakefield High School students.
