FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Police are looking for two men who shot a store clerk just as they finished an armed robbery in Fayetteville late Friday night.
The incident happened at about 11:30 p.m. at the Sunoco Gas Station at 4527 Raeford Road, Fayetteville Police said in an email.
“The investigation revealed that…. males armed with handguns, entered the Sunoco Gas Station and pointed the handguns at the clerk,” police said.
The suspects immediately began making demands for the clerk to open the cash register.
One of the suspects went behind the counter and stole an undetermined amount of money from the register.
The suspect behind the counter also stole a sword that was beside the counter.
As the suspects were fleeing the store, one of the men fired a gunshot that grazed the leg of the clerk. The clerk was not seriously injured and the suspects fled from the business in an unknown direction of travel.
In video from the robbery scene, the clerk can be seen holding his hands up during the entire incident and flinching just as the gunshot hits him.
