FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — The city of Fayetteville is one step closer to having a baseball team.
City leaders did not take action Monday night.
But they unveiled the results of a feasibility study which found 87 percent of the 1,300 people who took it believe having a stadium would benefit the community.
The proposed 5,000 seat stadium would cost about $43 million, but city leaders do not have an option for paying for it.
They’re expected to take a final vote next Monday.
There is interest from the Astros, who would rent the venue if the stadium is up and running by 2018.
