News

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN)  – A lightning strike is to blame for a house fire in Durham, officials said.

Deputy Chief Chris Iannuzzi tells WNCN News emergency crews were called to a home at 10 Kingsmount Court at about 9 p.m. Sunday. Once there, firefighters found flames shooting from the attic.

Iannuzzi said the fire was doused within minutes, but caused “a moderate amount of structural damage to the attic and smoke and water damage in the rest of the home.”

Two adults escaped the fire without injury.
