Greenville police: Arrest made in fatal shooting of woman on Tyson Street

A man Greenville police said shot and killed a woman last week has been arrested. 

George Knight, 32, of Greenville has been charged with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder in connection to the shooting death of 27-year-old Shantelle Pope. 

Pope was shot just before 9 p.m. on November 13 near Tyson Street and Colonial Avenue. 

She died at Vidant Medical Center two days later.

She was with two other people at the time of the shooting, and police do not believe she was the intended target.

Knight’s arrest was a joint effort between members of the Greenville Police Department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team, Emergency Response Team, SBI Fugitive and Missing Person Task Force, and Major Crimes Unit.

More arrests are possible, police said.
