(WCMH) – One family is begging Instagram to stop censorship after the app disabled a woman’s account because of a photo of her cake. It was deleted because Instagram thought the photo was a picture of a woman’s breast.

It’s called an Easter Simnel Cake. You can see it has marshmallows on top, which are supposed to represent Jesus and his disciples.

A British woman wanted to share it with her followers because she was proud that her daughter had made it. She never expected it would lead to Instagram disabling her account.

The next time she tried to log on, she found an error notification saying her account had been disabled for violating the company’s terms. Her daughter then reported the picture, writing, “Dear Instagram, this is a cake, not a breast.”

WIVB-TV contacted Instagram for a comment. A short time later, the mother’s daughter tweeted that the company had re-activated her mother’s account.

The first picture her mom posted once she regained access was a note saying, “I’m back.”

An Instagram spokesperson emailed WIVB-TV the following statement:

“We mistakenly removed the account and we apologize for the inconvenience caused. We worked to rectify the mistake as soon as we were notified and have already taken steps to prevent this from happening in the future.

NBC4 also had problems when we tried to share the photo on social media. Facebook, which owns Instagram, deleted our post three times with no reason. We’ve reached out for an explanation.

Twitter, on the other hand, did not flag the photo.
