Two Vance County men were arrested in connection with a robbery in Butner, one in Wake Forest and other crimes in North Carolina and Virginia, according to officials.
Robert Dylan West, 21, and Quavon Latrell Henderson, 18, both of Henderson, were arrested. Butner police had received a report Monday of a common-law robbery involving an 85-year-old woman, according to a release from the Butner Police Department.
A suspect approached her at a Dollar Tree and asked if she needed assistance. The woman declined, and before she could get into her vehicle, the suspect approached her and ripped her purse from her shoulder. The woman lost her balance and fell to the ground, the release said. She refused medical treatment.
“The male then got into a vehicle and left the scene,” the release said.
Sharing of the photo and information on social media helped not only identify the suspect and the vehicle, but also to link him to other crimes in North Carolina and Virginia, the release said.
Henderson police located the vehicle and contacted the Butner Police Department.
West is charged with common-law robbery, conspiracy to commit a felony, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was placed in the Granville County Detention Center under a $75,000 bond. He was also served with three warrants from Henderson. His bond for those charges is $200,000. Finally, West was also served outstanding orders for arrest from Person County on charges of assault on a female, communicating threats, and injury to personal property. Those charges carry no bond.
