2nd suspect charged in home burglary caught on video near Sanford

SANFORD, N.C. (WNCN) - Two men are now in custody and two more are sought after a brazen armed home burglary was caught on video a week ago just outside Sanford, deputies say.

The break-in happened May 26 around 2:30 p.m. at a home on Carthage Street, officials said.

The home's occupant was alerted by his home alarm system, which included at least three video cameras.

The thieves, who targeted the home, took two pistols, a safe containing cash and three watches, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

Later that same day, deputies were able to track down a vehicle used during the incident, Lee County officials said.

On Saturday, deputies revealed that Dewaun Raymel McEachin, 22 of Cox Maddox Road in Sanford had been arrested

Lee County officials first released information, including video clips, about the burglary on May 27.

In the video, a man in a baseball cap can be seen with a gun walking around inside the home.

The man appears to be on a cellphone during part of the burglary as he goes from room to room.

Another man, wearing a hooded sweatshirt, can also be seen carrying at least one item.

The pair can then be seen on an outdoor color camera running along a dirt driveway to a getaway vehicle while carrying items.

McLean was charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and possessing stolen goods.

McEachin was charged with breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods. He was placed in Lee County Jail under a $15,000 secured bond.
