3 guns stolen from unlocked cars in Granville County town

Local News

Four men went into unlocked vehicles this weekend and stole three handguns among various other items in Creedmoor neighborhoods, police say.

The incidents were reported around 2 a.m. Sunday involving vehicles in the Golden Pond, Paddington, and Southerbys subdivisions, which are all along N.C. Hwy 56 east of Creedmoor.

“Surveillance video from the area shows at least four … male suspects walking through the neighborhoods and pulling on vehicle door handles,” a Creedmoor police news release said.

The suspects then fled the area in a white four-door car, possibly a 2009-2016 Acura TL, with a sunroof.

Most items taken from the unlocked cars include cash, coins and small electronic items, police said.

“What is most concerning is three handguns were stolen and are now on the street,” Creedmoor Police Chief Keith King said in the news release.

Police are trying to identify the men involved and are asking people to lock their car doors.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Creedmoor Police Department at 919-528-1515 or Granville County Crime Stoppers at 919-693-3100.

A reward up to $1,000 is offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect. Callers do not have to give their name or personal information.
