Arrest made in woman’s deadly stabbing in Sanford

SANFORD, N.C. (WNCN) – Sanford Police say a man was arrested Monday following a deadly stabbing incident Sunday night.  

According to police, officers responded to an apartment in the 100 block of Scarlet Oak Lane in Sanford for an unresponsive female.

Upon arrival, police found the victim inside the residence.  Authorities say the stabbing victim was deceased from apparent stab wounds.

Police later identified the person deceased at 42-year-old Devonne Blue.

Monday night, police said Brandon Gerard Gray, 39, of Forestwood Park Road Sanford was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Gray was taken into custody at his residence without incident, police said.

Gray was taken before a magistrate where he was placed in the Lee County Jail without bond.

He is scheduled to have a first appearance in Lee County District Court on Tuesday.
