FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – Fayetteville police said Wednesday night a suspect in the murder of a former soldier turned himself in.
Amonte E. McDougald, 18, is charged with first-degree murder. He is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under no bond, according to a news release.
Officers responded to a shooting shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday. Ross Curry III, 25, was found at the scene and later died at the hospital. He was previously in the military and previously lived at 77th SFG Way in Fort Bragg, police said.
Fayetteville police arrested 19-year-old Montez D. Lofton on Monday. He is charged with accessory after the fact of first-degree murder. He was taken to the Cumberland County Detention Center where he is currently being held on a $500,000 secured bond.
