FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Officials say a Fayetteville house fire left a family of five without a place to live Monday night.

The fire was reported at 6:50 p.m. in the 2600 block of Lone Pine Drive, according to a news release from Fayetteville fire officials.

“The first arriving fire crews found heavy smoke and fire visible from a single story residence,” the news release said.

Four children and an adult were already out of the house when crews arrived.

Inside the house, crews discovered “heavy fire” in the kitchen and attic of the house.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, but crews were still on the scene Monday night to deal with smoldering areas.

No one was hurt. The investigation into the fire is underway.

The Red Cross was called to help the displaced family.
