FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – Fayetteville police have charged three people as the result of two separate human trafficking investigations, according to a press release.
One finvestigation resulted in the arrests of 33-year-old Markus O. McCormick and 38-year-old Jason L. Godwin. According to the release, McCormick is charged with:
- Two counts of promoting prostitution
- Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver a schedule I controlled substance
- Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver a schedule II controlled substance
- Possession of marijuana
- Felony maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances
He is being held on a $107,500 secured bond.
Godwin is charged with promoting prostitution and is being held on a $5,000 bond. Both are at the Cumberland County Detention Center, the release said.
In an unrelated investigation, Raleigh police arrested 28-year-old Brian K. Bumpers II. He is charged with human trafficking an adult victim and promoting prostitution of a person with a mental disability. He is being held at the Wake County Detention Center on a $250,000 secured bond, the release said.
“The Fayetteville Police Department extends its thanks to the Raleigh Police Department for assisting with the apprehension of Bumpers,” the release said.
