Fayetteville police ID suspect connected to fatal Jan. 10 shooting

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – Fayetteville police released the name of a suspect connected to the shooting death of a 53-year-old man on Mesa Court on Jan. 10. 

Antwon Carlisle, 30, of the 200 block of Lieber Street is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Detectives are asking for Carlisle to surrender peacefully to authorities.

On Jan. 10, around 7:28 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting along the 5600 block of Mesa Drive.

They arrived and located a man suffering from a gunshot wound, according to the release.

The victim, later identified as Joseph Gore, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in critical condition. He later succumbed to injuries. 

“The homicide does not appear to be random at this point in the investigation,” police said when the shooting occurred.
